Why do you need counseling/ do you need Therapy?
- We say,
- I’m strong enough
- I can handle it
- I have friends and family
- And I’m absolutely not going crazy.
Who all need counseling?
Counseling is a talk therapy that allows a person to share his/her difficult feelings and problems in a confidential environment.
Leaders as Coach
Counseling helps us vent, reflect, learn life skills and build resilience. It can help us Improve Relationships, Build Confidence, Overcome Peer Pressure, Cope with Stress, Anxiety & Depression. It can EMPOWER you with skill sets to become a better version of self. A counselor will encourage you to share in a safe space, will listen to you intently and help you excel personally and professionally. With guidance and practical tools, you will feel happier, stronger and grow, at every step.
A counselor is not there to advise or direct on matters that bother a person. The whole idea of counseling is to EMPOWER individuals through rationalizing of thoughts & feelings. Hence a counselor will encourage you to share in a safe and confidential environment, will listen to you intently, understand why you feel a certain way and then help you identify negative thought patterns and replace them with positive thoughts. You will discover coping mechanism and identify plan of action to address your concerns.
When a person wants to explore in depth the way he/she reacts, behaves and feels about such concerns, counseling offers a safe space to find a resolve.
It is a relief sometimes to be true to ourselves and ask for help rather than suffer alone in silence.
What Improves With Therapy

Counseling & Therapy have been known to be very effective in helping with a variety of challenges most of us face, be it Relationship Challenges, Depression, Anxiety, Stress as therapies help in building resilient coping mechanisms and empower us.
Empathy, Perspective, Challenging of Negative Thought patterns are some core fundamentals of Counseling & Therapy.
Breakups, marital concerns, childhood experiences, Loneliness or work-life balance, all the stress-inducing events in our life bring a range of common symptoms – stress, low self-confidence or anxiety and sometimes even depression.
Some of the clients terminate therapy right after 2 sessions because of the overwhelming recall of pain, or inability to challenge or confront the unhealthy thought pattern that they have been practicing all the while to deal with the stressful situation. Similar to physiotherapy, for psychotherapy to be effective, it needs consistent effort from both counselor and client.
Acceptance is the first step to healing, followed by practicing healthy coping techniques. It takes a lot of effort to come out of the self-defeating pattern, wherein it is the responsibility of the counselor to give them a safe space and unconditional regard to relearn new and healthy ways to deal and see the world.
About Different Therapies
CBT- Cognitive behavior Therapy
Leadership Coaching Online
Cognitive Behaviour Techniques are derived from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and are intended to make behavior healthier for overall individual development.
People often experience thoughts or feelings that reinforce or compound faulty beliefs. Such beliefs can result in problematic behaviors that can affect numerous life areas, including family, romantic relationships, work, and academics. One of the most effective and scientifically proven technique to modify unwanted behavior is CBT. It is based on the idea that the way we think about situations can affect the way we feel and behave. Until now, Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) was a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helped patients understand the thoughts and feelings that influenced their behaviors. It has been commonly used to treat a wide range of disorders including phobias, addictions, depression, and anxiety. These techniques make people aware of their thoughts and feelings and enable them to make effective use of the state they are in. This helps them deal with their own past and present.
CBT is also empirically supported and has been shown to effectively help patients overcome a wide variety of maladaptive behaviors. It is important to note that CBT does not just involve identifying the faulty thought patterns; it is focused on using a wide range of strategies to help clients overcome these thoughts. Such strategies may include journaling, role-playing, relaxation techniques, and mental distractions.
REBT- Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Systematic Team Coaching
REBT is the pioneering form of cognitive behavior therapy developed by Dr. Albert Ellis in 1955. REBT is an action-oriented approach to managing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disturbances.
According to REBT, it is largely our thinking about events that leads to emotional and behavioral upset. With an emphasis on the present, individuals are taught how to examine and challenge their unhelpful thinking which creates unhealthy emotions and self-defeating/self-sabotaging behaviors.
REBT is a practical approach to assist individuals in coping with and overcoming adversity as well as achieving goals. REBT places a good deal of its focus on the present. REBT addresses attitudes, unhealthy emotions (e.g., unhealthy anger, depression, anxiety, guilt, etc.) and maladaptive behaviors (e.g., procrastination, addictive behaviors, aggression, unhealthy eating, sleep disturbance, etc.) that can negatively impact life satisfaction. REBT practitioners work closely with individuals, seeking to help identify their individual set of beliefs (attitudes, expectations and personal rules) that frequently lead to emotional distress.
REBT then provides a variety of methods to help people reformulate their dysfunctional beliefs into more sensible, realistic and helpful ones by employing the powerful REBT technique called “disputing.” Ultimately, REBT helps individuals to develop a philosophy and approach to living that can increase their effectiveness and satisfaction at work, in living successfully with others, in parenting and educational settings, in making our community and environment healthier, and in enhancing their own emotional health and personal welfare.
REBT is used with non-clinical problems and problems of living through counselling, consultation and coaching settings dealing with problems including relationships, social skills, career changes, stress management, assertiveness training, grief, problems with aging, money, weight control etc.

The way each person perceives and reacts to traumatic experiences and stress is very complex and dependent on a range of variables and an individual’s unique qualities. It is important for providers to recognize both what is occurring in the brain and body under duress and the efforts that can help counteract those impacts.
The body’s reaction to stress is mediated in large part by the limbic system, the emotional center that makes the complex connections between the sensory system, the nervous system, hormones and major organs (McEwen, 2006; Perry, 2005). With positive or even tolerable levels of stress, neurotransmitters work within all areas of the brain, sending the proper signals to allow us to think, act, feel and form new memories (Perry, 2013).
When a person is exposed to a threat or danger, even if it is just a perceived danger, the body naturally responds by releasing stress hormones such as cortisol which sends signals throughout the entire system. These hormones, when not excessively activated, cue the body to respond appropriately and protectively, helping the individual survive challenging or traumatic situations.
However, chronically or permanently elevated adrenaline and cortisol levels are detrimental to an individual’s well-being and healthy development. Too much cortisol has a negative impact on the proper functioning of the limbic system, the prefrontal cortex, and the body’s immune system, which over the long term can lead to severe and sometimes lasting damage throughout all of these systems (AAP, 2012; Perry, 2013).
